This is how I learned when I was little: hold your hands in front of your face, stick your thumbs out and your other fingers up. The hand that makes an L shape is your left.
Was that a serious question or a riddle? Oh well. Thats still my answer.

stick your hands up with your palms facing out...then stick only your thumb out and the left hand will have the shape of an L and the right hand will look like a backwards L. well..the one with the right L is the left hand! :]

if you know if you are left handed or right handed pretend to write and whatever hand feels more comfortable is the hand you write with and then you know what side that is
you can also try wearing a watch or something on one hand everyday
