there is a thin line between punishment and abuse. A lot of people believe in spanking and the like and i don't believe they will be jailed for it. They might have to take parenting classes or in cases where the system believes that line has been crossed, they will take the kid away and put them in a foster home. good luck.

theres a difference between slapping as into discipline the child, and slapping as to physically hurt the child...you need to distinguish what is going on here FIRST. also, if this slapping dicispline, you should know that there are forms of it, in which crossing the line, CAN lead into legal trouble. If hes bloody, bruised, or in a pain that lasts more than a couple hrs, then theres something wrong.... and the brother shouldnt hit the child, in an abusive or serious matter. siblings fight, reguardless, but the same rules and forms apply to the brother as well.

at the end of the day, if the child calls the police, it will be taken seriously, reguardless of what the parents say...and the case will be looked into a bit more closely.

I am not sure if the parents will be arrested, but I am sure the police will come out to investigate, and if there is no physical proof then there will be no way to charge anyone with child abuse. Especially since the kid could be doing it for attention or to get back at the parents. I heard that they are thinking about passing a law that says that parents aren't allowed to hit their kids if they are three years of age or younger.

haha well what happens on their 4th birthday??..hopefully no built up anger from the previous years.

Yeah, they could go overnight, it really depends on how bad the child is hurt, and how often the police are called to the home. You can call 1-800-4 ACHILD to get social services to the house without involving the police.

My mama slapped me and I didn't call the cops. See, that's because I'm black. Whites shouldn't whip their kids because they blow it all out of proportion. When you guys whip your kids you kill them, that's why you sit your kids in a corner. Call da police if the child is bleeding or hurting really bad.

It kinda depends on where you live. If you live in a sucky CPS care system, then they won't. Sorry to say. I know exactly how u feel. but the cops and everyone have to take ur word for it, but since the adults are more "mature, or sophistocated" they usually take there word for it and dont listen to the kids. this has happened to me many times b4...sorry

unfortunately yes in today's world I think the problem with some of these kids is they have never been spanked they are allowed to roam the streets robbing, beating, and killing other people they also run wild and destroy other people's property maybe if they were spanked for doing things when they were young they would be better people today

technically it's asault- and technically there can be a jail sentence applied- but both have a great deal of discretion for the police and judge- So I would say it's unlikely unless there are extenuating circumstances.

I believe it depends on the severity of the beating resulting in an abusive nature.

Yes! If this is happening to you or someone you know, contact the authorities and child services IMMEDIATELY! No child should be the victim of violence!
