Yes... It's a propaganda against the great history of Iran. All we know that the very first human rights ideas were born in Iran at this very same era and the proof to this is at the United Nation's building today. This movie is not based on history, it's based on a comic book. I can write a book about United States and tell that americans are wild, ugly and horrible monsters. But is it true? Absolutely no!

Some people which call themselves "Artist" has produced a movie based on a "Big Lie Novel" and are showing it to millions of people around the world, So some people which don't have any knowledge about the history of civilization of the world may believe it as the history. It's very sad but I'm sure that just some kids which think that "The lord of the rings" is a part of history, may believe this "300" lie movie is based on truth too.

It is a proven scholarly fact that the Persian Empire in 480 B.C was the most magnificent and civilized empire. Established by the Cyrus the great, the writer of the first human right declaration, Persians ruled over significant portions of Greater Iran, the east modern Afghanistan and beyond into central Asia; in the north and west all of Asia Minor (modern Turkey), the upper Balkans peninsula (Thrace), and most of the Black Sea coastal regions; in the west and southwest the territories of modern Iraq, northern Saudi-Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, all significant population centers of ancient Egypt and as far west as portions of Libya. Having twenty nations under control, encompassing approximately 7.5 million square kilometers, unquestionably the Achaemenid Empire was territorially the largest empire of classical antiquity.

Based on the Zoroastrian doctrine, it was the strong emphasis on honesty and integrity that gave the ancient Persians credibility to rule the world, even in the eyes of the people belonging to the conquered nations (Herodotus, mid 5th century B.C). Truth for the sake of truth, was the universal motto and the very core of the Persian culture that was followed not only by the great kings, but even the ordinary Persians made it a point to adhere to this code of conduct.

More over, the first human rights memo was conveyed by Cyrus the great (This stone scripts was kept in a musum in London), and his attention to the equity of rights between males and females which was demonstrated in the respective rules has been always astonishing for the ancient historians.

I did not expect Warner Bros. Picture company, as one of the world's largest producers of film and television entertainment to ignore the proven obvious historical facts, and damage its own reputation by showing the Persian army at the battle of Thermopylae as some monstrous savages, and thus create an atmosphere of public mistrust in its content.

I'm sure that history and great true historians will not forgive this heresy that this company has done.

How is this an insult to Iran. It is based on historical facts on the 300 and their holding to the Spartan warrior tradition.
Would a movie showing how the British and Americans fought in the revolution be a hit on the Brits - no. Or showing the massacres of the Native Americans by US troops early in our history be an insult. No they are facts and history is to be learned from.

Would you like to tell me what the hell this has to do with the category you placed it in? "Dining Out - Washington DC"

Also it might be helpful to you to note that "brothers warrner" is actually "Warner Bros." and "the iran" is inappropriate at best. It's either "the Iranians" or "Iran."

"Where that the civilization start." is not a sentence.

"Mony" is not a word.

"Everybody" is typically ONE word, as is "everything."

I don't typically go off on a rant on people for these sorts of errors, but it doesn't take a genius to at least place political crap in the proper category...

No disrespect, but the mongrel shepherds and nomads that now live in Iran are not the ancient Persians....

So no conclusions can be drawn about modern Persia/Iran from the depiction in a movie which takes place 2500 years ago.

it's interesting to see how many people here don't have any care for others. The film as one of the guys said based on history but not facts.they have misrepresented the facts, won't you be upset if someone comes round and say WWI or WWII were just minor wars and not many people died??????

I don't think so.Althought we live in democracy this doesn't mean we can insult other cultures or be abusive.
