I work at the local school and saw a boy wearing this shirt. I'm white and I thought if i wore a shirt that said I love White People the school would have a problem with it and so would the black kids.
I don't think either shirt is ok to wear....causes too many issues.

I'd think 'ah, this young chap is a segregation-supporting moron'. Same if I'd seen a white kid in a shirt with I love White People.

After all the pushing for equality, self-segregation seems rather stupid and counter-productive.

But people are entitled to wear what they like, it's just more 'accepted' for black people to be proud/segregational because of historical treatment and the poor name given to 'white pride' by groups like the KKK.

Oh, brother, some of these answers.

How do you know your school would have a problem with you wearing a shirt that said, "I love White People"? I know why. Because a bunch of ignorant white people have used their racist propoganda to suggest that "I Love White People" is synonymous with the hatred of other races. They are allowed to use the media to grandstand their ideas, and they water down the rhetoric to appear reasonable in publication. But, intelligent people know that their so-called "promoting pride in the white race" amounts to nothing more than subjugating others. They screwed it up for you. Sorry.

I don't know of any other racist propoganda that suggests that loving your own race means hating other races. If I wore a shirt that said, "I Love Black People", the only people that would have a problem with that is white people. (I'm considered white.)

"Causing" issues is our constitutional right, and our responsibility as citizens. Race IS an issue, and as long as it continues to be an issue, we should hear from as many sides as possible, in as many words as possible, as often as possible. Blanketing the problem by legislating expression will neither solve the issue, or prevent heated discourse.

If people are sick of the race issue, then by all means, put it on the table, open it up, and take the heart out. Don't cover it up, and let it lay there, stinking up the whole country.

If it isn't harming anyone, it's fine. However, I see your point about wearing a shirt like that to school. Is he one of a handful of Black youth at the school? Is the school mostly Black? These details matter because the environment in which he's wearing the shirt will shape the reaction he gets from it.

You're right it causes way to mny issues, and in a school enviroment would be a distraction to the students, so in that case he shouldn't have worn the shirt, but still should be allowed to wear the shirt. Freedom of speech isn't allowed in schools. There's nothing wrong with him wearing that shirt, outside of school, it just seems he was looking for attention, and attention should be on the teacher not on the student. I don't know, just I think he should have been able to wear the shirt, it's just he knew what he was doing when he was wearing it, and thats fine.

Have noticed that vehicles bearing national identity symbols
such as American flags, yellow ribbon symbols, and the like are more frequently shunted into inspection bays by USA border personnel than people like me who bear on their truck
such messages as 'SMUGGLING - IT ISN'T JUST A JOB;
IT IS AN ADVENTURE. And, I'M FREE, WHITE, AND OVER 21. And, SUBSCRIBER TO: www.monthlyreview.org

I don't see a problem with a black kid proclaiming love for blacks. Just because he loves blacks, it does not necessarily follow that he doesn't like other races, too.

Now, if he wore a shirt that sad "I hate white people" or "I hate Jews" then I would see it as a problem.

There's not a thing wrong with declaring you love a certain race or culture. The issues you refer to would apply only if the shirt said the opposite - like "I Hate White People" worn by a black student or "I Hate Black People" worn by a white student.

Your way of thinking is what is rapidly causing America to become a Communist state. Stop trying to dictate how people should behave or express themselves. Anyone wearing anything that declares "Love" of anyone or anything is perfectly fine and acceptable! You should encourage this kind of expression in students!

I dont agree with ANY shirts, thats anything like that.. . I think that in its own way is racism.. I can tell you now, where I come from, If a white kid wore a shirt to school saying I love white people, they would be accused of racism and asked to change their clothes... But (I know this will get thumbs down, so be it) it seems like people are afraid to be "fair" because they are afraid of being called a racist.

I think the boy probably learned something new about his culture and possibly felt like expressing himself. I think it's great that he's taken an interest in his culture because black people have been supressed for so long - both mentally and physically and it's about time for us to have some pride.

Much the same as I would if I were to see an Irish kid wearing a "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" button.
