I'd like to do this for my girl, but I am worried about bacteria back there. Has anyone does this? What did you do to make sure it was safe for you? Just washing it in the shower? Babywipes? Anything more?

Clean the area in question with a good antibacterial soap - if ti contains Triclosan, even better.
Then after you are done rinse with plenty of antibacterial mouthwash and hand soap before moving on to other more standard areas so you do not bring any bacteria along for the ride on your mouth or fingers.

Well, not sure what you are referring to but in my day we used wooden spoon and fork and tossed the salad while we poured the dressing on top.

Take a shower with her and go to town... I don't understand the fascination with "tossing a salad", but my b/f likes to do it.. weird.

I always make sure I wash it for her right before I do it. I also use flavored warming oil. She'll love you for it.
