I'm in middle school and my school offers a trip to Washington D.C. to 8th graders. I know I should bring 4 changes of clothes, pajamas, undergarmets, tooth brush, tooth paste, camera and batteries, towel, and money. But is there anything else that needs to be on the list? [I'm very forgetful and also we're going by bus and we're in Florida.]

First check with the adult sponsors to see what will be allowed. If you regularly take medicine, you will probably have to leave it with one of the adults. If you regularly take aspirin or Tylenol, check with the sponsors to see if they will have it available. If not, leave some with one of the adults.

Since you will have a long drive, you might want to take along a good book to read on the trip (unless you get carsick if you read in a moving vehicle). If you have room, you might want to take a neck pillow--the kind that Velcro's around your neck to help you sleep more comfortably when you are in a vehicle.

Many trip sponsors do not allow Discman's or iPods, but if yours does and you can't live without your music, take some music along. If cell phones are not allowed, consider getting a phone card so you can easily phone home if you need to.

If you don't already have one, buy or borrow a suitcase on wheels--they are wonderful!!! Try to leave some empty space in your suitcase for souvenirs.

Buy a few postcard (24 cent) stamps, so you can send your parents a quick note. If you plan to send ones to anyone else, be sure to write down their addresses (or better yet, have them printed on peel and stick labels).

To conserve space, try to get travel or sample sizes of your cosmetic items and put anything that will leak in a zipper bag to protect your clothes.

If you regularly use a large purse, try to get rid of everything except real essentials--remember you are going to have to carry it all day. I have a small one that can go around my waist--it is big enough for what I absolutely need to have with me and saves my shoulders. If you plan on carrying a backpack, you might be able to find a really small purse that will fit in the backpack, but it is handy to have the essentials handy around your waist.

Other things to take: a laundry bag (or just a large plastic bag to keep soiled clothes away from clean ones), a small backpack, your glasses (even if you don't regularly wear them--good vision helps when sightseeing), sunglasses (if you use them), a sweater or light jacket, sun block, lotion*, deodorant, soap*, shampoo*, hair conditioner, hair spray, mousse (or any other hair product you use), kleenex*, tampons or sanitary napkins (if there is even the slightest chance that you will have a period while you are gone), comb, brush, hair dryer*, extra film (or better yet, disposable cameras--it is easy to lose a good one), a bottle for water, some snacks--simple ones like jerky or granola bars (candy bars melt and chips get squashed), any acne/complexion preparations that you regularly use (put in a zipper plastic bag--most of that stuff contains peroxide which will leave bleach spots on your clothes), make-up (if you use it, but keep it simple--just take lipstick, etc. colors that will go with the four outfits you are taking), safety pins in two or three sizes, a small sewing kit (needle, thread in a few basic colors--pieces, not spools, a couple of basic buttons--if anything you are taking has buttons)

*Even though many hotels and motels provide these items, unless you know for an absolute certainty, take them.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

an extra set of clothes (maybe a nicer set depending on what you might be doing). snack food and something else to do on the bus...book (a pillow might be nice). if you have any electronics that you bring (like a cell phone) don't forget the charger. deoderent if you use it; any vitamins or medications you might take (inhaler?). socks (i know it's undergarments...but they still get left). if you're staying in hotels, you might want a swimsuit if there is free time.
a calling card is also a good thing to always have (in case you get seperated from the group or really need to call home for an emergency or something). film for the camera....

COMFY SHOES! odds are you will be doing lots of walking, so bring very comfortable shoes. also, a book to read maybe, for when you are in the hotels or wherever your staying at, and an mp3 player or cdplayer or something that plays music because yeah, just trust me on that one. also, bring one extra shirt, pair of pants, pair of underwear, and all that because who knows what might happen.

Maybe something to do when you get to your hotel, like bring a book to read or movie(s). I would bring a couple of water bottles too. C=
