Call the local humane society, they will take care of the body for you. Do not bury it yourself, as you can risk not digging deep enough and attracting animals that will dig it up(other dogs for instance). They can cremate it and give you the ashes.

As for the method of death, if it was murdered, you need to contact authorities and tell them who did it. Injuring animals is one of the signs of deep emotional unrest and a lot of serial killers start out by murdering animals. This is the best thing you can do to honor your pet's memory, to ensure it doesn't happen to another pet.

Other then that, if you wish to grieve, do so according to your own customs. They're part of our family after all, and we should grieve them just the same.

First call the authorities. Second cry your eyes out. Third call your vet and see if they offer a cremation service. If so figure out what you can spend. There is communal and private. Hope this helps.

omg I am so sorry to hear about your loss! I would bury him either in a pet cemetary or your backyard. You could also cremate him. I would call your vet as far as places.
And remember the good times.
