I am so ticked off right now that its not even funny!
I had gone to the doctor to check my knee and my son (5) was in the room and I told him to sit on the bench across from me in the room. He was sliding back and forth and the doc came in agitated and got it and told him to sit still...same as I had been. Then my son started to cry and the doc got up and grabbed his arms and said if you dont stop crying I'll give you something to cry about! WHOA! WHat? My husband came in and I told him to take my son. We leave and I am furious! No ONE has a right to do this to my son.... I called the police station and the chief ends up being his friend and brushes it off as a bad day....I called the dr office and the office manager was speechless and said she would talk to "someone" I file a complaint with the state and since the DOCTOR did not "hit or strike" my son there is nothing that can be done!!!!!!! What would you have done?

We are no longer going to that practice , ever! We went to the cops to file a complaint. IF *we* would have grabbed our son like that we would be accused of child abuse and if a doc does it - it doesn't? I did confront the doctor and it did no good. I am just at a loss.. and cannot believe that this happened

I would have confronted the doctor on it right then and there, reported to supervisor in charge. Nothing more can really be done. Don't go back to that doctor.

I really think your doctor was completely out of line. No one should put their hands on your child or threaten to give them something to cry about. I would file a complaint with your insurance company and also start looking for a new doctor. There is no way I would continue to see someone like that.

As a parent i would have taken my child out of that office right away after i threaten him and i would not have take that police officers answer i would have asked to speak with the chief or another cop then i would get a lawyer and tell them what has happened and asked if there is a case here and if they said yes then i would sue him and go to the media with this
that is not right no one has the right to threaten a child nor do they have the right to lay there hands on them especially when they are not theirs

Sound familiar...I had to go to my son's middle school the other day and raise holy hell...the gym teacher there picked my son up off the floor (in anger) by his arms then threw him back down on the gym floor sprawled out...NO ONE is allowed to do this to a child, and you were right in calling the police for advice, but they are obviously not going to help you, so you need to find a way to report it to the medical board or a hospital if he's affiliated with one...if all else fails, I would straight call Protective Services and ask them what your next step should be...

I probably would have punched the dr in the face and said, "I'll give you something to cry about you stupid son of a *****." Ok maybe not really I probably would have done that same thing.....and I would also say find a new dr and trash the old one like no other

I would have done exactly what you did. As soon as he touched your son, it was an assault. If the child has bruises I would take pictures and file a claim in small claims court. I would also report him to the AMA, the American Medical Assoc. They should take steps to discipline him. What he did is outrageous. Find a new Doctor.

Wow, where are you from? I would have knocked the hell out of the ol'doc and he would have been the one trying to file a complaint with the police. And lord forbid that my husband was there. He would have been ready to kill him. I say you press assault charges being that he grabbed him and he is a minor.

First, find a new pediatrician.
File a complaint with the AMA or the local better business bureau.
Tell everyone you know who has a child this story--hit him in his wallet and he won't be bullying any more kids.
Call the police commissioner--if you don't get satisfaction on one level, go higher.
good luck

No that was out of line. He had not right to do that. It appears as if you tried to do every possible option to get resolution. It also appears as if you were unsuccessful. Yes the doctor may have been having a bad day. I have had them and lost my cool on my kids. He had no right, but somtimes regretably we have no recourse unless your son was injured.
