depends on the type of drugs. dialated eyes are a definite. fidgeting or doing a repetitive movement that seems purposeless. grinding of the teeth. seeming nervous/hyper. sometimes scratching imaginary itches.

some of the ways you can tell are changes in mood and behavior, loss of intrest in things they once cared for, excessive energy or falling asleep during routine daily activity, eating binges, unable to focus during conversation and rambling about different topics. sudden weight loss. poor hygeine and dressing. These signs are sometimes more obvious than the pupils and bloodshot eyes.

well there you go, they bloodshot eyes, the pupils, the way they act(compared to when they arent on drugs) what they do, their facial expression, their mood, their attitude, the way they smell(if smoking )...

Yeah, the red eye thing is a pretty good indication...confusion...bad decision making...lots of times you can detect the odor if they've been smoking pot...if they're on speed you can see nervous behavor like when you've had too much coffee...I work in retail and see it all the time.
