Well some migh tknow this..Ofcourse you kno whow you have to be a MINIMUM of O-3 to be accepted for Civil Affairs, PsyOps, SF, etc. training correct? OR a O-4 to be accepted for FOA. Well can a Major still apply for SF, and can a LTC still apply for FAO? If not, anyone know why? (by the way, this is just a question, im not an officer)

All officers can change branches, but they run into problems with the age requirements. Okay to get a degree that takes time, and to make O-3 that takes about 4-6 years. So you are looking at a 28 year old or possible older. For most special forces roles like Navy Seals, the cutoff is 28 years old. As for an O-5, that takes sometimes 12 years or more. Once a person achieves that rank they are already older. If they change branches they will be that rank, but they will lack experience. They can but the age and duties will hurt them.
