I thought she was sick, but it's been going on for a while. I took her to her vet and they put her on medication, but doesn't seem to be helping. So i was wondering if it was because she was going into heat?

NO ! heats don't affect poop ! do you get the runs when you have a period? she is sick... have you tried probiotics? and enzymes...these work together to break down food and aid in the absorption of food. also nutro's lamb and rice "natural balance" kibble is fantastic food for tummies, skin, and coat. :)...hope this helps... well i know it would if you did it !...

I have never seen this happen, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't. You might want to look for some other causes of the diarrhea. Have you changed her food lately? Changing food is a major cause of diarrhea in dogs. As well as, soy and corn products being two of the main culprits for food issues. Have there been any other household changes that may have stressed her? Is it possible that she has allergies to something that is blooming or been recently brought into the house? (Shih Tzus are prone to allergies.)

Good luck with this!

Usually it does not but there's always that oddball out there. What medication did the vet give and why? You may want to take her to a different vet for a second opinion just in case your vet missed something.

Diarrhea is probably worms, and yes you need to fix your puppy quick smart it is unfair for an animal to be that upset when it isn't necessary.
