Is this something that happens w/ age (2.5yrs)? Even though her stomach has changed she is still very playful. Any help?

No this isn't normal. Sometimes a female's pigment will become darker DURING their heat cycle but it should go back to normal within a week of the heat ending. Is there any chance she was bred? It's also not uncommon for pigment to be darker during pregnancy and weaning. If there's no chance of that, I'd be worrying. Get your dog to the vet and see what's going on. Even if she's perfectly fine, it's worth it for the peace of mind you get from knowing your dog is going to be okay. If you're not going to breed or show, you can also schedule her spaying.

For that breed and age, she COULD just be gaining pigment. Many breeds continue to grow darker until around four years of age. I'd still see the vet just in case. You can't put a price on your dog's health. A simple check-up isn't even that expensive.

The same thing happened to my moms golden retriever and the only thing that i can come up with is she was just getting older! There is nothing wrong with her, she's just aging.
If it is not tender and she is still playful and happy don't worry she's okay!!!!
