I've been landing my double lutz on and off for a really long time. I was landing it during Christmas break but now I can't land it again!
Can anyone help me I don't really know what I'm having trouble with. I either freak out and don't rotate it or toe foot the landing. Also some days I don't even get to a double lutz because it takes me forever to land my double loop even though I can land it!
I'm getting fairly frusterated :O

its ok, dont get frustrated.

i read this in Sasha Cohens book, Fire on Ice. Find a video clip of you doing the jump. Observe it carefully, and keep repeating it over and over again. Then think "ha i did this i can do it again" now try flooring the lutz. if it doesnt work repeat. dont get flustered cuz itll only get harder. watch the video clip again and again. floor it at the same time you watch the clip so u can time it right.

if your rink has a video player or u have a dvd player, take it with u and practice the jump on ice while the clip plays. if it doesnt work, try flooring it again. dont panic, itll come back, it just takes a little time

I love double lutzes, but once I lost mine for a whole month until I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It was that I wasn't waiting long enough to take off. This is what my coach told me: wait until you've gone down in your knee, then back up and then pick, and rotate. I finally can do it again consistently. I still have troubles with my dbl loop, though. That's my worst jump. Usually I skip it, go onto the flip an lutz, and then come back to try an land it. It takes me forever too!

You must be having a consistency problem. Don't worry, I have days like that too. Try to do off ice jumping with the lutz. Normally, you should be able to do a double lutz off ice. This will ensure you will not lose your jumps. It could also be because your technique is incorrect, or your not getting enough height to finish off the rotation. Make sure to bend the knees first, go straight up into the air, and then rotate. And remember: ALWAYS WARM UP BEFORE SKATING!

Always remember, do it and get the rotations, or fall NEVER chicken out, it's the worst thing you could possibly do because then you get into bad habits and you might never do your jump again. Make sure your on your outside edge in the take off and make sure your reaching back far enough for your tap into it. That way you get more time in the air because you get good height and you can be ready for the landing. Make sure your keeping everything tight in the air and when you land don't drop your right shoulder so you can have a solid landing. Practice doing them on the floor and then you will be able to do it on the ice. You really want to try to do your jump consistantly so try to do the same thing every time. Good Luck!

Tell yourself that you are going to land it when you go into the jump and make sure that you have a positive mind set. It will help you be able to land it. Also have your coach or another experienced skater watch you do it a few times and maybe they can see what you are doing wrong and help you out.

If you're having real trouble with a jump, leave it for awhile and work on something else, then come back to it. Practicing and falling over and over again can train your body to fall.

Don't think about rotating. Just think about jumping straight up in the air and your body will rotate on its own.

get a nice knee bend in your left knee and think of it as a flip. this way it dosen't sound so scary.Think bend snap bend. bending on the landing will help you getting used to landing it properly anad make combonations tha much easier. good luck - don't stress it.
