I'm using the litter kwitter and I just moved to the amber stage. My cat has been on the red stage for 2 weeks and has done very well. Now that I have moved her to the next stage she won't go to the bathroom. I'm thinking about going back to the red stage until she is ready. I would love to have some advice. I'm almost ready to give up but I don't want to.

I have had 3 toilet trained cats and it's awesome once it's done. I just came home from work and flushed- no litter boxes!

Yes, back up to a successful stage if your cat starts having problems with the next stage. Definitely.

It can take a while for some cats. I didn't use the litter kwitter- back then I used Kitty Whiz, but they've changed it and when I tried to use it last year the plastic is too weak and bends so the cats freaked out and wouldn't have anything to do with it. If I were to do it again I'd use a steel mixing bowl as described here: http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html

A friend of mine potty trains her cats (she fosters lots of cats) and she found a portable toilet for people with disabilities at a thrift store. It has a regular toilet seat on top. She uses that for the toilet training process rather than tying up the toilet the people use. The last step of her process is to take the portable toilet away- the cats transfer to the regular toilet pretty easily. She does have them going into water in the portable before removing it so they are used to that.

I thought that was brilliant- the only reason our current cats aren't toilet trained is that we have humans who don't remember to put their stuff back on the toilet and it annoys the humans!

I think it's great and I wish you luck.

You might want to keep your cat in a room of her own for some time longer. Maybe she just needs to be closer to the litterbox for a while.

Cats are very clean animals and will use the litterbox. You could try changing the litter. And clean it every day

I don't know what the "red" and "amber" stages are. But it sounds like the "red" stage should take a bit longer.

All I can say is to keep trying. Some cats are not as eager to use the toilets as others. It only took one of my cats a week and a half to enjoy the toilet - but another cat I have, no matter what we did she never wanted to do it. Hopefully your cat will change her mind!

go get you 2 oil pans positioned little or no muddle in a million and go away it next to the lavatory the 2nd one use for the lavatory...you may go away the lavatory seat as much as that end so water does not splash their backside..water has a tendency to scare maximum cats.... you'll be consistent.....this is why you start up with an oil pan that is extra or less an analogous length because of the fact the lavatory.... sturdy success
