History. The first city and gateway to the new world for millions of immigrants. For a gogetter who loves the big pulse New York City is the arguably the cultural and business centre of the world. Careers, fame and fortune seekers. Its a culinary Mecca. Museums, Art, Fashion, high culture and opulence if you can get there and handle it. Locals probably cant even imagine leaving and other places are like hicksville extrordinaire to them. The city of big dreams and possibilities. The masses of humanity and constant buzz must be addictive. One writer said if youre tired of New York youre tired of life. Hell, I'm gettin so excited I feel like goin myself now.

The same reasons why many people live in other major cities in the world:
1. Roots: When you family and friends are from there, you tend to like to stick around.
2. Jobs: There are many employment opportunities in a megalopolis like NYC. Some more than the others: finance, broadcasting, journalism, the theater, arts etc...
3. Culture: The theater, museums, schools...

New York is the best city in the world. It has a vast assortment of cultures, many things to do, and in the right places can look beautiful. People live there because of these reasons and because it attracts many immigrants because of its diversity.
