thanks for taking them in=) If the mother became a stray she did not get the right food for the beginning. probability is the children are not that healthful because the mother wasn't. because the mother is so skinny, you are able to favor to flow purchase some kitten formula to help fatten up the little kittens. they prefer some food. The mom needs to be feed cat food truly of any type. I desire confusing cat food yet moist cat food also once an afternoon can help you fatten her up. you ought to take them to the vet only to ensure they are ok. For this evening make certain they have a marvelous comfortable mattress to position in the position the mother has get entry to. She could attempt to flow them so do not mess with the kittens too a lot in the journey that they are 3 weeks or youthful. With time the kittens wont be as skittish.

I wouldn't worry about it but that is a sign that there's something wrong with the kitten and before you do anything note that I wouldn't do anything about it. Mother knows best. She probably smells something with that kitten and is seperating it from the rest to protect the rest.

Do not interfere.

If you interfere she will hide the rest of the kittens and leave that one there (or worse).

Leave them alone and it might survive but if you fool with it the mother will kill the littlest one. I wouldn't even take it away from her because if you take that one away before it dies then she'll panic and who knows what she'll do to the others or where she'll take them.

I know it's difficult but it should resolve itself in a few day. My experience is that that kitten will have very short time to respond and I would just leave it alone for the sake of the rest of them.

Please provide more details.

How many kittens are in the litter? If she has a huge litter she may simply be unable to take care of all of them.

Is she a very young mother cat? Sometimes young inexperienced mothers aren't the best mothers.

Have you checked the little kitten? Does it seem to be breathing and capable of eating if allowed to?

Initially, I would try to sneak him in to a nipple so that he can eat.

If he doesn't get enough you may need to get formula from your vet and bottle feed him. (The kind sold at pet stores contains cow's milk and may give your kitten diarrhea.)

Keep in mind that bottle fed kittens can become real terrors and bite as they get older. You'll need to make sure he still spends most of his time with his litter so he can learn how to behave like a good pet cat. The other kittens and the mother tend to show each other that biting isn't appreciated.

Best of luck to you.

You might want to take that smallest one to the vet ASAP- the only reason I've seen this happen for is that the mother senses that the kitten is very sick and probably won't make it, so she gives all her time to the other kittens.

Is she still feeding it? Have you taken the mom and the kittens to the vet to check weight and general health? All this should be done. Also, are you feeding the Mom kitten food? This is essential because she needs the extra nutrients that kitten food has.

Go to a pet store and buy kitten milk replacement and feed the littlest kitten with a small bottle so she can catch up with the rest. Stroke it's tummy to stimulate its digestion.

Is the smallest the runt? Have you had the kittens in to see the vet? One of our dogs had a litter of pups and she kept on hiding the runt of the litter. I guess she must have sensed that the little one was sick and weak. We watched her closely and made sure that she did not hide or neglect the little one. The tiny pup grew up to be a healthy dog. Let the vet know of your situation. He or she should be able to offer you advice! :) Best wishes!!

Sorry but I have to agree, the Mother cat doesn't think the little one is going to survive. A vet visit would be the wisest choice and then, or until then, you may have to take on the role of "mothering". Good luck.

Moms can sense if something is wrong with her babies. They tend to starve them out to get rid of them. You may need to take over mom role you can buy kitten formula and bottles and nipples for kittens at the stores. Safeway in my town sells it. Kitten may also need to see a vet.
