My cockatiel laid an egg lastnight and i put it in a nesting box. Now the male will NOT let her in the box. Should I remove him from the cage?He has had babies before, but not since ive had him.What do I need to do??

It would of been better if the egg had been laid by the female IN the box herself. She may reject it and she may not. Leave the male in there for now. However you can remove the male for a short time just to give her time to go in the nest box then when shes inside it let him back in. See if this works. If the male goes into the box dont panic. He will take turns in keeping the egg warm. If your worried you can try hatching it yourself i can give you advice on this if you want but it requires LOTS of time from you. If he smashes the egg, then next time she lays again I would definatly remove him.

Let them be. The male and female take shifts in the nestbox. If they are fighting to the point of injury, then remove the nestbox and wait for next season.
