to be honest,if the person is in denial about there problems there bound to not get/refuse help.
I wouldn't say they were being selfish by doing this to a point.
The mind works in strange ways, there was a time when i refused counselling and made my family's life a misery.
sometimes you can just feel too messed up to notice, and you can't think straight, making you not really take notice of anything around you.
so basically you can be in a world of your own for weeks and just yea, most people wont underdstand unless they themselves have been through it.

It depends on how healthy a person wants to be. It also may depend on their culture and their upbringing. For example, generally, African-Americans are under served in this area. Partly because there are just not enough competent African-American therapists out there and some do not wish to be counseled by people who do not understand them culturally. Mostly though it is the cultural notion that people who seek counseling are, "crazy," or weak.
Other cultures share these false beliefs too. There is still a real stigma involved with taking care of ones mental health. Even in an era where MILLIONS admit to taking antidepressants. We all recognize physical illness as a chance incident for which one is wise to seek intervention, but no one wants to be recognized as mentally ill, although a lot of people are!

Chill out!!It's just harder 4 some people 2 admit they have a problem.Or,2 ask 4 help.&,u know some people don't have insurance or money.&,w/out either 1 of them,no matter how bad u want or need help.Nobody wants 2 or will help u.&,if u don't have anybody that'sthere 4 u or any resourses...well then,u do the math.Trust me,I know the feeling. So,it's not always their fault. No more than it is that they {WE}have a problem. It's normally not their intention 2 make u or anybody else live in misery.*

Some people prefer to work through their problems with close friends - clearly, you are not such a person one would turn to in a time of need!. You are the type that would have to go to a counsellor as you probably don't have any friends?

they dont love themselves enough to get help and would rather be miserable and make everyone else suffer with them . just stay away from them and take care of yourself .
