You mean the kind that the dogs can get?...no they are not. THey are contracted by dogs through a mosquito bite, which then infests the heart causing congestive heart faiure....completely preventable with heart worm medications.

Heart worms, dirofilaria immitis, are contagious from dog-to-dog and from dog-to-human. However, humans are accidental, dead-end hosts and adult worms don't reach maturity in the heart or skin. They die. There was one documented case of active infection in a human but this is atypical.
