I'm trying to start a home baking business and I need help finding what needs to be done to get a certified kitchen.

First contact your department of health for the requirements. They have a long list of requirements which must be followed. Things they will check when they inspect you etc.

In Iowa you called the Inspections and Appeals board. They'd send an inspector out, tell you know what needs to change, sign the form, and that was it. If you did have to change anything, you had so many days to change and report it on a form and send it in. It's actually pretty painless.

You are definitely going to need a managers food sanitation license. Maybe a permit from your local town hall to run a small business. Depends on your city ordinances and parking. Things to that effect.
