With a resume' showing you are working towards the degree is a definite plus. Apply and keep working toward the degree. It takes a long time to get through the process and get hired anyway.

A lot of people are still trying to get a job months after they graduate, how nice would it be to have the job waiting for you.

How old are you? If you are college age <25 I would suggest you finish your degree. You will be much more attractive to a police service if you have the degree and are more mature. My police service requires as a minimum a high school diploma, but NO ONE gets hired without at least one post secondary degree. There are so many people applying that a degree will definetely help.

At least finish your AA, and even better get your BS,

Most departments don't say you have to have it, most only list high school, but to actually get hired most will hire the higher educated first.

And once you have your degree you can't loose it.

Also check with several departments, many are looking for other degrees besides criminal justice, computer degree, and mangement degrees are highly sort after also

There is a nation-wide shortage of police officers. Apply while you are in school. The academy I went to was on a college campus and I got paid at the academy, plus my associate degree from all the courses.

Depends on where you are but if you get hired you will get all the training you need.

I'm not an officer but if you appy to the department with an AA and another person applies with just a high school dipoma, chances are you will be the one they choose.

Apply and continue going to collage but drop the criminal justice courses. Get a broader education business or liberal arts etc.

That will give a greater perspective that will come to your aid on the job.

Finish your AA! Get your BA and work towards your masters after you get hired!

You will need those to promote in the future from Sergeant, Captain, Chief!
