I would like to get a present for someone that is paralyzed. They can move their head and can speak but they can not move arms, legs, upper body. They have been like this for 6 months after an accident. Any suggestions at all are valuable

Wow, that is a hard situation to be in... I am so sorry for this person's accident.

Does this person like to cover with blankets? Or do they like warm fuzzy socks? My first thought was to find something that would help with their physical comfort. Also if they use a wheelchair, maybe there is something you could buy for that to help make things more convenient for this person or their care giver. You didn't say how this person eats, whether it be by mouth or tube... if they can eat normally, try to find out what their favorite foods are and get them something you know they will really enjoy. Another thought is entertainment, DVDs maybe. There are also books you can buy that are on tape or CD and they can listen to the story instead of reading it.

I will look online for some other ideas, but I hope for now these help.

Addition: Here is a website I found that may help give you some ideas...

oh- one last idea... If this person doesn't get out of the house much, maybe you could offer to take them someplace for a day. Maybe they would love to go to a movie, to the park, to a zoo... anyplace where they can get some fresh air and stimulation. If I were in that situation, I think a gift like this would be absolutely priceless.

They're paralyzed, not dead.I'm sure that anything u get'm,they'll love.&,greatly appreciate.Get'm a card.I have a lil thing u like sit up somewhere. It's really cute.U put bats in it.It's a lighthouse. Not very big.Pour some water in it & turn it on.The light comes on in the thing.&,it has a pump,so the water runs through it.Like a water fall.I think it may even play a lil music. It's been so long since I had it on.Anyway,I used 2 have a dragon water fall, where the water even made the crystal ball he was holding turn around & look really weird. So,I know u can get diff. designs. But,something like that wuld probly b good. They're attractive & entertaining.Just depends on their interest.Good luck!*

Hello, the only thing I can think of right now is music. Ask him/her or his/her family what kind of music he/she likes. I'm guessing that almost every household in the whole world should already have a CD player, so what you need to supply for this person is the CD, or even an Audiobook.

Your action is commendable, keep up the good works!!

They still have the same interests they had before the accident and paralysis. Find out if you can modify something they enjoyed to make it possible now. Can they use special equipment that you can add to like a mouth tube that allows them to type or an apparatus that might allow them to draw or paint? This might be expensive, so look into agencies that charitably support people with paralysis. They might also have ideas.

Well, that's up to you to figure out. What do they like? Do they enjoy listening to music? Reading a book? Watching a movie? Find that out and maybe even ask them what amuses them. Then you'll know what to get.

Movies are always a good bet, my aunt is the same way, i get her movies and tv show series and stuff like that. it may help them to take their mind off of their own disability and raise their spirits and give them something to converse about. and i really hope that idiot at the top thought he was funny, you jerk-off. any ways, good luck with your gift searching.
