Make sure he has DJ at weddings before and he is familiar with the reception format. A great DJ at the club isn't always appropriate at a wedding. The DJ should have personality, lighting, diverse music collection, and an open mind.

Make sure he/she is willing to meet with you beforehand a couple of times to get a list of both "must haves" and "must nots". A good DJ will look at your must haves and say, "I see you really like this...this artist is pretty similar...do you have any issues about this (second) artist?" On the opposite end, "I see you don't want the chicken dance, but you didn't say anything about the hokey pokey, should that also be on your "not" list?" Also, find out what his/her policy is for requesting songs. I know it's hard to believe, especially with wedding djs, but I once attended a wedding where the DJ refused to play the guests requests. Attire is also up there...there are many DJs in my area that only wear tuxes to their jobs. (And the women ones wear tasteful business suits.) You don't want a DJ for your wedding dressing like Eminem.

I had a Dj for my wedding ceremony and it replaced into perfect in spite of the indisputable fact that it replaced right into a real reception with a acceptable dinner and dance afterwards until a million am. Your placing is plenty distinctive and that i do no longer think of you may desire to spend the money on a DJ. Your buddy could desire to consider you, deliver it to concepts is your wedding ceremony and you may desire to do it the form you opt for to do it. i might get a lap acceptable have your standard songs on it and function your uncle handle it. The music instruments the temper and entertains the travelers, the DJ performs it yet once you recognize each and all the music you opt for, you do no longer choose it, quite while you're no longer having the music on for that long. good success along with your wedding ceremony making plans!

Is he reccomended? Mine was on the perfered venders list from my location. That way, it's obvious he's done weddings before & is in good standing with my location. Next thing is price for what I'm getting...when do they start & stop playing music & how much extra time is. Of course, I also want to make sure the DJ will listen to me. If I don't want something played, it doesn't get played.

Personality, and that depends on whether or not you want someone who will get your party started and get everyone dancing like a fool, OR someone who will just blend into the crowd. A good DJ can really make a wedding become a party.

Ask if he has a wide range of musci from 50's right up to present day!
Hear samples of his work - don't pick one who will talk over songs - some really like the sound of their own voice!!!
He should be open to requests, like you could give him a list of your favourite songs before the wedding.
Here's an idea....give him yours and your new husband's favourite top ten songs and have him play them at 10pm.
Call it your - TOP TEN AT 10 !!!!

reccomendations from several of his previous clients. If he can't give you anyone to speak with personally, then he probably isn't such a good choice! Also, you could ask to go to an event he is working before you decide to use him for yours. If he has nothing to hide and is proud of his work, then he should have any problems with either request!
And when speaking with previous clients you can find out a TON of information: how were his prices, was he felxible, did he follow your wants and don't wants, how did he get along with guests, music availablility, etc! You can find out alot of useful info from any of his previous clients!

Price and personality.
Also if you are going to get that actual dj. My Friend booked with a company and you basically got whom ever..... her DJ was a rude smart *** and made smart *** comments to everyone who requested a song. He was very nasty and a completely jerk. He even dropped his keys and I found them and he was really nasty to to when I returned them.... "because I ask if he could please annocence someone lost their keys" ... he graped them out of my hand and was really snotty about it. And won't tell me they were his!!

YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE MUSIC APPEALS TO YOU,THE WEDDING PARTY,THE GUEST AND ANY CHILDREN THAT WILL BE PRESENT AND MAKE SURE HE IS REASONABLE. YOU CAN ASK FOR SAMPLES OF THE DJ'S MUSIC TO SEE IF YOU LIKE IT.

ask him for references for other weddings he has done. I would want one with a fun personality and one that is open to the music you would like.
