My windows in the front of the house have a half circular window on top. There are 3 of these in the front.Do you think it would be a wise choice to install stained glass in these areas or would it look too much like a cathedral. We have several stained glass lamps and fire place covers, but it is all inside.Would it look nice or unclassy.

I think it would look fabulous from the inside during the day and from the outside at night. It's a very upscale expensive look so I don't think you would be sorry. Obviously you like stained glass anyway and I do too. I'm a retired realtor and the only stained glass I ever saw someone object to was a window with a scene of a lighthouse in a part of the country that has very little water and no lighthouses. I'm sure the seller has a soft spot in his heart of lighthouses but it was not a selling point. Yours put in the arches will be. Good Luck and God Bless

If the front of the house is fairly simple, stained glass might really add some punch. If the colors are carefully chosen and the design appropriate to your architecture, the overall look could be nice and "classy". You might consider using beveled glass instead, in an appropriate pattern,[perhaps a sunburst], especially if you get a lot of sun through them. The beveled edges reflect wonderful prisims of light and you would get a slightly more formal and elegant look. Protect any art glass with "Lexan" or a similar product. The effect won't be lost because Lexan is clear but your windows will be saved from weather, rocks, balls, etc.

I think it would look rather fetching myself ! I love stained glass, and besides , a contractor friend of mine said stained glass in entrance systems is coming back & not just something you see in an old church. I say, if you like it, go for it, & let others think what they may. Hope this helps.

It would look gorgeous. If you want classy go with a Victorian theme with bevels, going with all clear and textured glass looks rich without introducing too many colours. Here is a link for what you want. You are looking for a transom window. Best of luck!

I love stained glass and would put it everywhere except a window that frames a view. as to looking to much like a cathedral . . . that would depend on the design
