I live in the States but have no idea where to find it. I attempted making it once, but it did not work. Any suggestions?

Gelato is difficult to make. I used to own a specialty ice cream store and made it from a mix, very tricky stuff. I have never seen it anywhere else. Sorbet is easily homemade and about the only thing even close you will find, I'm afraid.
It sure is yummy stuff, though. I often wonder why it has never caught on here in the states. If you have an italian restaurant near you, you might find it

Well in Vegas, there are like 10 different places to get Gelato, all on "the strip".....

Making gelato is not a easy thing... You need special equipment ranging in the 10,000s of dollars.... Batch machines, mixers, etc. etc...

I actually have the recepies for many many flavor, and a formula to create any flavor (using %'s), but you still need the equipment...

Like the other said... you can try looking for it in Italian restaurants... I also know some high-end grocery stores may carry a packaged gelato brand... In Phoenix, AZ... they have it at the AJs (grocery stores)....

If you live near Los Angeles, you could go to the Taylor office... Taylor is one of the manufacturers of the batch machines to make gelato and ice cream... You could actually get free gelato from them... and they do offer free gelato seminars every month where you can make, taste, and take home Gelato.. for FREE...

If you live near New York, there is a tons of places in New York serving gelato...

Check this web site for some contact information of some real real experts in Gelato that might even know every gelato shop in the nation...

Hope that helps... Any other question about Gelato feel free to ask me @ cra_88@hotmail.com

Go to Olive Garden and order it off of the desert menu. If you have festa italiana like the Italian state fair, you can get it there too.
