Trichotillomania—focal hair loss due to hair pulling, twisting, or teasing—is symptomatic of an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
No agreement among experts exists for the use of medication for treatment; however naltrexone, behavioral therapy, and habit reversal have been shown effective in reducing some symptoms.
Please see the web pages for more details and images on Trichotillomania.

Are you acually pulling the hair out, or just ripping off the split ends. I used to do it all the time in high school when I was way bored in anatomy class. Go get a hair cut. Then you won't have any more split ends to pull off.

It's trichotillomania, and it's a milder form of self mutilation. You can get treatment for this, talk to a psychologist.
(I have a mild form of it too, when stressed, I pull out my eyelashes)

I would suggest for you to keep your hands busy in some way; find a hobby that will keep your hands still.
