Your success in this will be directly related to how long the cat and dog have lived together and developed this adversarial relationship.
If the cat is the newest member of the family, then you will need to understand that both cats and dogs are territorial animals and need to have space to themselves to feel safe. That means you need to be very clear where the dog's area is and where the cat's area is.
What I usually do when I am introducing a new animal member to my household is to find a small room (usually the second bathroom or my bedroom) to confine the new pet in for a few days. This gives the new pet a chance to get to know me first, my mannerisms and scent. The new pet can smell and hear the other pets through the closed door, so this is a safe slow way to get introduced.

If these two have been around each other for awhile now and still fight, all you can do at this point is cut down on the intensity of the fighting by discipline. When the cat starts a row, (VERY CAREFULLY) remove her from the room and confine her while she cools off and maybe realizes it's not so much fun to start trouble if she is going to get locked up everytime!
You know, I had a Great Dane and a Siamese cat that never cuddled or slept together, but they developed a certain amount of respect for each other, and made a game of "mock fighting" that you could see they enjoyed together.

So just watch your pets closely and see if this is a situation where discipline is warrented.
Good Luck! And enjoy your pets!

sit the cat and dog down together and have a serious talk with them. You might want to use the word association game with them to see where their thoughts are. You may even have to explain to them that being prejudice is not allowed as it seems as though the cat doesn't like dogs. Usually the cats feelings comes from how they see their parents react to someone who just isn't like them.. Maybe do you get uncomfortable when someone of a different race comes in your house?? Can't we all just get along regardless of race?

some form of reptile might probably be good, however no longer for the youngest. Corn snakes are very docile snakes; in the event that they are socialized spectacular, they do no longer chew except somebody relatively scares them. they do no longer choose particular lights like many reptiles. they are no longer costly once you get them from a great breeder (no longer a puppy shop) and don't get plenty extra effective than 4 to 5 ft. they are no longer heavy bodied snakes so this isn't any longer a difficulty. Corn snakes won't in lots of cases carry nonetheless whilst somebody is retaining them; they have an inclination to %. a course and go. they are perfect starter snakes and are very appealing too. They stay around 15 to 2 many years. Ball pythons are good pets to boot. I beleive they do choose ultraviolet lights, yet this isn't any longer a great deal. they are additionally very docile. they're going to take a seat exact once you carry them. they in lots of cases purely get approximately 4 ft long. Ball pythons stay around 20 to 20-5 years. Anole lizards make good pets too. they are low-fee, consume crickets, maximum do no longer choose particular lights and maximum species purely get to be around 6 inches to a foot long. maximum breeds stay around 2 to 5 years. i've got had gerbils and that they weren't marvelous pets. They smelled, bit and weren't cuddly. A rabbit may well be a great puppy too.

sometimes animals just won't get along. i have 4 pets now, they all came together as adults, and fortunately forus they got along great(most of the time) but my sisters cats came to live with us for a year and two on my animals just couldn't get along with him. they would fight all the time when together. They learned to tolerate each other, but they chased each other whenever they thought nobody was looking. Sometimes, you just have to accept that your animals won't like each other, and the best you can hope for is tolerism.
