I just bought a new rectangular area rug. It came in a roll, and when I unrolled it at home, the part of the rug that was in the very center of the roll turned out to be all kinked and curled. I tried putting heavy books on it for a few days to flatten it out, but that didn't really work. I don't think I can iron it. Any suggestions?

Use a drapery steamer. You may have to do it on the back to get the kinks out and then on the face yarns to get them to settle in with the rest. This should fix your problem immediately.

Turn the heaviest table in the house upside down over it for a week. If that won't take it out, you will have to put a plastic drop cloth under it and use a steamer on it. Good Luck and God Bless
