I am so sorry to hear this, i know how you must feel. I can understand your wife point of view on this as well.
I hope you find her a really good home. If you are like me you will worry a lot about the dog. Maybe some one close could adopt the dog that way you can at least visit with it. When you do find her a home, keep in contact with the people so you know how she is doing.
When I sale my puppies, I keep in close contact with all my puppy owners I always need to know that they are being taken care of.
Good luck to you and I know how hard this is for you.

Wow- she sounds wonderful!I wish i could help some-i grew up with a german shepherd mix,he was the best dog ever!Right now i can not get another dog,
you could try http://www.petfinder.com
also-talk to your vet,he/she will be able to tell you what kind of family your dog need(like kids, home all day)and might be able to help the process! Please do some background checking up in the new owner-so your dog doesnt get sold for glue (i know,i know.. thats for horses-but same idea) i wish you the best of luck-and i send my love to that poor doggy!
P.s. congrats on the baby!

Contact your vet, put up signs at local Pet-stores and grocery store community boards and put an ad in your local paper.
