A weak fuel pump can cause this problem. The closest answer is water in the fuel. I know this from personal experience. The fuel filter is on the bottom of the pump, at the bottom of the fuel tank, and the pickup is about 2" off the bottom. Add some fuel additive that is mostly alcohol and see if that cures the problem, if it does not you may have to replace the pump.

could be a hole in your fuel pump pick up tube inside the tank, or it has otherwise moved and is sucking air when your fuel gets down to that level

With just a half a tank you probably have some water from condensation in your gas. Dry gas.

try changing your fuel filter and try not to let the truck run on empty that also could have started your problems
