sorry to break the news to you, but those two words are completely unrelated except in that fantastic brain of yours...heresy means beliefs not authorized by the powers that be and "hearsay" is a legal term meaning overheard or told to by another party.

If you're actually interested, no, they're not related. They come come from french, hearsay being a translation of the phrase "par ouïr dire", and heresy coming from the french word "eresie". In french, where the words come from, they are nothing alike, as you can see. It's just a coincidence that they came out similar in english.

No, the etymology is quite different. Heresy is to preach unorthodox belief, against the dogma of mother church. Hear say is presenting evidence in a forensic sence that in fact you have only obtained by word of mouth, not observed in first person.

Not at all.

The first describes the holding of unorthodox beliefs.

The second would probably be more comprehensible to you if you were to realize that it's actually "hearsay," which describes evidence repeated at second hand, as in "I heard my brother say that she shot him."

Take the time to look up the words.

The word is "hearsay." The two are unrelated. "Hearsay" is unsupportable verbal evidence, rumor or common talk. "Heresy" is a belief contrary to established doctrine.

Heresy is the term for denial of the truth of established religion.

There is no such word as 'heresay'

Hearsay is third person information, when you have no direct knowledge of what someone said: i.e. 'my friend told me that someone said...'.
