I bought mine at Target however, I believe you should be able to find it at Walmart in the spice section. I know McCokmick makes it.
If you need to mix it yourself just use small equal amounts of cinnamon, roasted cumin, cloves, nutmeg (and/or mace) and green cardamom seed or black cardamom pods.
Most of the commercial mixes use dried red chili peppers, dried garlic, ginger powder, sesame, mustard seeds, turmeric, coriander, bay leaves, cumin, and fennel.
If you make your own, don't make too much as it will lise it's arouma quickly.
Good luck.
P.S. I love it rubbed on steaks.

The best place to buy Garam Masala is from http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?index=grocery&tag=asin1-20&keywords=garam+masala
This is basically a warm mixture of spice from Indian. The slightly sweet blend will save you that step and still gives you that authentic Indian flavor. So expect to find the Garam masala in the spice section but if you're kind of picky, get it online because they have a better selection. You can get them organic or even in a larger bag so you can save money by getting it in bulk.
Hot spices like these are good to use in curry, since I'm a huge fan of curry, this is one of my favorite spices to put in. Some people can make this spice at home but it requires a lot of different ingredient to mix together that I don't think is worth the time. If you don't have any local indian store nearby, get it online, makes it easier that way.

Garam Masala is an Indian spice that is very deep. "Garam Masala" literally means "Hot Spice". It's mostly used in curries. The flavor is quite earthy and hot, depending on the brand. You can make your own at home but you will need to buy a lot of spice for it. If you're looking to buy it ready made, you can get it at any Indian stores in your area. Some good ones to look in are Patel Brothers or Subzi Mandi. They will have it there guaranteed.

Garam masala is a blend of ground spices common in the Indian cuisine, whose literal meaning is 'hot (or warm) spice'. There are many variants: most traditional mixes use just cinnamon, roasted cumin, cloves, nutmeg (and/or mace) and green cardamom seed or black cardamom pods. Many commercial mixtures may include more of other less expensive spices and may contain dried red chili peppers, dried garlic, ginger powder, sesame, mustard seeds, turmeric, coriander, bay leaves, cumin, and fennel. While commercial garam masala preparations can be bought ready ground, it does not keep well, and soon loses its aroma. Whole spices, which keep fresh much longer, can be ground when needed using a mortar and pestle or electric coffee grinder. Garam masala can be used during cooking, but unlike many spices, it is often added at the end of cooking, so that the full aroma is not lost. Garam masala is not "hot" in the sense that chilis are, but is fairly pungent.
You can buy it indian grocery store. Now a days, even big superstores are carrying a lot of indian spices. You can look in there too. And as it is a blend of spices as mentioned earlier, you can make your own too.

It's an Indian spice mixture and I'm not quite sure about kroger's but Walmart definitely is not a choice. Usually Indian gourmet shops in the larger metro areas. I'm sure online you can get it!

It is an indian warming spice, and very spicy and tasty. It will likely only be found at a specialty market, like and Indian foods store, or online. If you have an Indian food restaurant near you, you can maybe purchase it there. Here is a link with more info. I have substituted it before by blending various spices, but its not the same
