Well how many people are you serving?
For 10 -15 people, I suggest trying the following simple and tasty nibblers that are a variation of popular party dishes where I grew up (Guam).
Chicken wings (20 to 30, assuming 2 pcs. per person)
Fold wings into triangles by sliding the wing tip over the top of the drummette until it 'locks' onto itself. Marinate the wings (overnight for best flavor, or at least 1 - 2 hours) in any of the marinades below. Arrange the wings in a baking pan and bake @ 325 for 25-30 minutes or until juices run clear when the meat is pierced. You can also grill or barbecue.
Marinades: Kikkoman Teriyaki sauce is fabulous, or make one of the marinades below. The measurements will probably need to be doubled, depending on the amount of chicken.
Island style -
1 cup Kikkoman soy sauce, Juice of 3-5 lemons, 1 large sliced onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, pepper to taste.
Korean style -
1 cup Kikkoman soy sauce, 1 cup honey, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1-2 Tablespoons of Sesame oil, pepper to taste.
Filipino Style -
1 cup Kikkoman soy sauce, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 large sliced onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, pepper to taste.
The Island style marinade recipe is also a great dressing for cucumber spears. Just cut the cucumbers into 3 or 4 inch spears and place into a Pyrex or plastic bowl and cover with the marinade and let it soak overnight or a few hours.
It is basically a pickled cucumber, but the fresh taste is awesome and it is FAT FREE!

Everyone loves chocolate. I suggest some crab and shrimp as long as it isn't outside in the sun. If it is, it must be tended to and placed over ice. No mayonnaise or white sauce should be added.
Have a sweet table, some non-alcoholic juices, punch, seltzer water, coffee, iced tea, herbal tea and a selection of beers, coolers and wine. I would not waste time and money on hard liquor which is difficult to transport and means having to fix a lot of drinks. Maybe some whisky and rum for highballs but that's about it.
Make sure to include veggies, chips, low-fat crackers, cookies, a fruit and nut plate, cheese, vegetarian options, diabetic options and some gluten-free dishes. (Also some kosher options for Jewish friends). A nice stuffed turkey garnished with sprigs of cilantro and parsley, lemon slices and eggs with a cucumber sauce on the side might be nice, as well as some pate with truffles and a plate of sauteed mushrooms and asparagus tips.

My favorite wedding receptions have been ones where simple finger foods were served. These can be eaten with or without utensils. Such as fruit & vegetable trays, chicken tenders, pigs in blankets, shrimp, breads with dip, etc. The possibilities are endless. I don't like messy foods that tend to end up staining sleeves and laps.

1.wrap water chestnut in bacon, secure with a toothpick and brush with barbeque sauce, bake til bacon is crispy...really good and easy to make a lot of them
2.meatballs in sauce (either swedish or barbeque)
3.veggie trays
4.meat and cheese trays with bread trays of nice breads and croissants
5.spinach dip and bread
6.artichoke green chili dip with tortilla chips
7.mini muffins (corn, gingerbread)
8.mini bagels with chicken salad in them
9.bowls of nuts
10.boneless hot wings for the men
11. potato and macaroni salads
12.fruit trays
most of this you can buy and not have to fart with. DONT leave veggie trays, etc. on the plastic trays, DO make homemade dips and salads. put everything onto pretty glass or crystal platters. will cost you 1/4 a caterer, and theyll bring you the same stuff. the quantities will vary depending on how long the reception will be and how many people will attend. you can email me if need be.

You really can have anything do you have a theme for your wedding? If you do you can start with theme based hor devourers. I personal had the caterer do an assortment and had a lot of fruit as we had many diabetic people who could not handle all the sweets.

Those little mini wienies are good, deviled eggs are always a hit unless you sleep in the same bed with someone, Cold cuts and cubed cheeses are good too. Fruit is good cuz not everyone likes a lot of meat and cheese. A variety of small finger sandwiches (not with fingers in them)is good too. Shrimp cocktail
Use your imagination

Fruits, veggies, cheeses are all good usually. You could also do what my cousin did which was a pretty good hit & have sliced meats, a couple kinds of rolls, & other sadwich things & sorta have a build your own sandwich set up.
