Jockeys are typically shorter because -typically- short people weigh less. I think the limit is 110 or so. maybe even less than that.

There is no real maximum, although 116 is usually the higest a jock will go, some get a little heavier, but only the best can afford to carry a few extra pounds. Most horses are assigned weights between 112 and 124 pounds including tack, for everyday races. Therefore, owners and trainers don't want their horses carrying more weight than they have too, that's why they have to be in that range. When a jockey starts out as an apprentice the horses they ride are given a 10 pound weight allowance until they win their 5th race, and then a 5 pounds off for a year following the fifth win. So to start out you really have to be down in the 105 range, since the major reason someone will put an apprentice up is to save the extra weight and if you can't get in that light there's no incentive to put you up. Jocks can be as tall as they like if they can make the weight and be strong enough to ride. You're no good on a horse if you're light and weak, you have to be light and strong, that's the trick about being a jock.

Maximum weight for a jockey is around 116 or 117. Height does not matter.

Well you can be as tall as you want as long as your under like... 125lbs. Because I want to be a jockey when I'm older and I'm pretty tall right now. I'm 5'2" and only 12 well I think I'm 5'4". I just don't want to go no more! But I'm 100lbs. :(
