My mom's bf of three years broke off the relationship with an email. Dont you think if someone was to break off a relationship, they should do it in person? What do you think is a good way?

Oh my God, what a COWARD, no guts at all. She did not need the low self esteemed bas***d.
The manly thing to do was to go talk in person.
The only time email break ups are OK is if you are just having an email, IM, Cyber, or long distant relationship. These are not seen as really, real any way (sorry, some may think so).
He should have at least done it by phone, if he wanted to be a coward about it. 3 years is a lot of time to become good and personal. She deserved a personal breakup.

hopefully in person, but some people are just not built that way...to do it face to face. Some have to do it by phone or email...so there is a distance and they do not have to face the person. Sometimes this is so they won't be persuaded to change their mind.
I don't think it is the best way...face to face would be the best, but as I said before...for what ever reason, some people are not built that way and just can not handle the stress of a face to face break up.

be cool...

Yes, that is a lousy way to end it, but at least she knows it's over. I would say the best way is in person, but if you can't do that than an e-mail is much better than trying to avoid them, or dragging it out because you dont have the nerve to tell them it's over.

email was way lousy!! He should have def done it in person. This guy was obviously not good enough for your mom if he was not mature enough to confront her about it in person. Doing it in person is the best way even if your feelings get hurt, atleast u know that person cared enough about u.

Wow. He is a coward. I hate it when people can't go up to someone in person and just say that it isn't working.
If he did that then he wasn't good for your mom anyways. I would say that she would have maybe even appreciated it if he had just went up to her (in person) and broke off the relationship then. I think that it is rude to do it any other way.

I am sorry for your mom. Even tell her I said that.
Good luck!

If a guy (or girl) is gonna break up with someone, then they should at least have the decency to do it face to face. Anything else is just cowardly and disrespectful.

If he is not even man enough to do it to her face then she is better off without that spineless fool. I think that is disgraceful after 3 yrs. I hope your mom is a smart enough woman to never take him back and I hope she finds someone who is a true blue decent man.

i think it should be in person or over the phone..you should at least have the guts to say it in your own voice...but i mostly think it should be face to face...if you have the guts to go out for 3 years then you should have the guts to break up face to face or over the phone...even if you start crying...there is nothing wrong with that.

That was a pretty cowardly way to do it I have to admit. It should have been done in person as any mature adult would have done. She is better off rid of him.
