People visit pilgrim places just to show, as to how religious are they. To meet and see God, one do not have to go anywhere. Always do good things in life, God is always in our heart.

If, by pilgrim, you are referring to one who travels to a shrine or holy place as a devotee, then it is either a sense of duty or a hope for some kind of reward that inspires people to go on a pilgrimage.

To reach a deeper level in thier beliefs or religion. For me it is a visit to nature in the form of the forest, a mountain or just a walk on the praire. I also think of a cemetary as a sacred place.

Because that is what their religion teaches them by birth. Does a child get to choose his religion? No. It is the result of the environment at home and what one is led to believe from the conditioning. It is called blind faith. And human beings behave like sheep as a result of it.

It's somewhat like fishermen, mainly they are out there to enjoy nature, catching fish is a byproduct.
