Hey.. Good for you! Start out light if your a beginner.. You are young and have the rest of your life to train. Train smart.. You want your bones, joints etc. to last as long as you do.. Don't hit the same body part daily.. Get some good books, a personal trainer or ask someone at the gym. You'll get many opinions, but find out what works best for you.. Regarding food. .Eat healthy.. I'm not trying to bulk anymore. I eat Oatmeal, banana, skim milk for breakfast, salad with chicken pieces or tuna for lunch and for dinner, I'll eat a piece of chicken or fish for dinner with vegetables. Limit empty calories such as cup cakes, soda's, candy.. Get good complex carbs. Good luck with training.

Good for you, everyone can benefit from weight training. The advantages are many and its a shame everyone isn't doing some level of it.
As a woman you probably don't want to get all huge though, so as long as you don't put too much weight on and do many reps you shouldn't bulk up any (at least 12 reps each time). Make sure you ask someone who works at your gym if you're doing it right though. It's not as simple as just lifting the weights any which way you want. There is usually only one right way, and many wrong ways of doing those workouts, and the person behind the counter is the one to aks for the proper way.
I know what you mean about the ''addiction'', I've been addicted for 10 years and can't imagine quitting.
Have a good one.

oh, forgot about the food aspect of your question. Just try not to eat too many unhealthy things and you should be fine. There are loads of different diets out there if you want to try one, but the key in my opinion (I'm in med school and going in to sports medicine if that gives you more confidence in my opinion) is to simply NOT eat what is obviously unhealthy for you. Simply avoiding junk food and getting enough exercise is enough. Keep in mind that your body builds and maintains muscle with protein, so you should eat some with every meal.
