You cannot choose to be something if it doesn't already exist. How can you know what red looks like if the color red didin;t exist? It's impossible to choose to be something if it doesn;t exist.

So, good and evil is personal opinion and speculation. What you perceive as evil might just be what i perceive as good. It's like some people like the color puprple other people like the color green. It's just personal choice really.

All things were made good. Some some of the good things chose to turn evil and revolt against the creator. It's really pretty simple.

Maybe it's a steering mechanism. Maybe our world moves along and is influenced by the hearts and minds of us all. Maybe we are coming to an important moment - a crossroads, perhaps - where the world can go 1 way or the other, and all that will decide it is the concesus of intention in the human race.
Not so far fetched. I look at the world today and I see a crossroads quickly approaching. I see humanity poised on the brink of a peace loving, united "Star Trek Federation" sort of future versus an apocalyptic devastating world war 3. It seems everywhere I turn the world looks like it is doomed or almost enlightened.
Of course that makes the source of evil the people who don't agree with you or don't have any opinion at all, really. I mean different but equally reasonable and intelligent people believe more military involvement is the answer and that negotiations are the only way. They might both be right, but they will naturally have very different, far reaching consequences.
Peace!

God did not want companions that were mere robots so his created beings had the power of choice. The angels could choose to love God or not love Him. Lucifer became proud because of his beauty and said he would like to be above his Creator. He was so clever and is called the Father of Liars and he convinced 1/3 of the angels to rebel with him. In a human way of thinking God should have destroyed him right away, but, then all of heaven and the other worlds would obey from fear and love would no longer be the ruling factor in the universe. Lucifer had cast seeds of doubt in the minds of the other angels. It had to be played out so we could see the results of disobedience. To some it is Yin and Yang, Law of Karma, or for us, reaping and sowing. It is a division between those that choose God and those that choose Lucifer. There are two armies and we are either in one or the other. There is no neutral ground."Choose ye this day whom you will serve." God says of Lucifer, "I will bring thee to ashes under my feet". The first time the earth was cleaned by water God's people and animals were placed in an ark. The second cleansing will be by fire and sin and death will be no more. Lucifer will be destroyed. We will be taken off the earth during the cleansing and then brought back to a clean new earth the way it was meant to be at the Garden of Eden. Have a terrific day...that too is a choice. Mmm

I think it is a way of describing the duality in 1 thing. Seems like everything has duality. I believe in maintaining a balance because there is no way to have one with out the other. It is like 2 sides of a coin. When you take it literally that that concept is lost. The devil is of god - I think the bible even explains this. God and the devil were best friends but once the devil thought he was better for superficial reasons - he was cast down. I think that is all symbolic for saying that the duality in 1 must work together or the will be divided and conquered. You can not escape either one of them - some how we have to find a balance between the two.

Free Will involves letting the creation make choices, but not without guidance.
That was provided for all God's Intelligent creation, however, there was one, of which is easily identified as Satan the Devil that took his free will to try and secure something that only belonged to the Creator and that was His Worship.
He was not content with his very high position in God's organization in heaven and went grabbing for what was not his as Adam and Eve actually did as well (with Satan's help) with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad.
There are many examples in the Bible of wise people making bad decisions. Take King David. Although he had everything to include godly wisdom he wanted what was not his and went to extremes to get it. Adultery and murder to name a couple.
The same can be said for David's son Solomon. He had wisdom that ones search out from far away, however, it was his several wives....that were worshipers of other God's that seduced his heart into apostasy.
Your reasoning is greatly flawed unless you consider Free Will in the equation.

LOL! I do believe in dark souls.
Some people who do evil, like Ted Bundy, could be a dark soul or he could have had a physiological problem. A defect in the brain. Just speculation on my part.
I believe that God created our souls. Did He create dark souls? I don't think He did. Dark souls have evolved from several lifetimes. They choose not to cross over when the body dies so their souls go right back in-utero. They are born without a plan or a guide. Dark souls are lost souls too.
Ok, my friend, now you must really think I am a nut-job. I have an opinion and I express it.

Spirituality aside, I believe the source of evil is that fact that we are living in a world of finite resources. Limited resources creates competiton for the things we all want and need. Competition leads to short cuts (unethical behavior) that yeilds a temporary advantage.
To me, a heaven would be a state where all the needs of every individual are met. In such a world there would be no advantage to being either good or evil. All inhabitants would simply be and the barriers to the enjoyment of one another's company would evaporate.
This is why philosophy and ideology are probably incompatible.

God only created Truth or Goodness.
But in hte universe that Good can be hidden or distorted.
Evil is an energy veil that people can put over the truth, illusion.
It's a thing of only human creation
Defining good is not the reason there is evil. We could live very well without distorting what is.
We are creators in God's image. Evidently we need to learn what evil is so we won't fall into that hole so we can create Good as he does.
::::::::::::::::::::
If you think evil or illusion is only personal choice like picking colors, you have a long way to go to being a creator as God is and we are to be.

There isn't just one source...there are two. When Satan got to Eve and Adam, he got in the mix too.
Evil is good that is twisted. Evil cannot exist without good but good can exist without evil.
Evil was permitted for a reason. And earth is a testing ground, sifting men from men.
People make the mistake of Judging God by the Christians they see. I assure you, this whole world, from start to finish is very very close to God's Eyes and there is a purpose in every single thing that takes place though it seems random and crazy. Every knee shall bow. Every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord to the Glory of God the Father.
Today's person is ripened for God's wrath.

Soul is a mixture of good and evil... that is true... but isn't it that God want us to choose good knowing what is evil... because there is no other way... evil is just a power for short time... you can become wealthy, respected by fear you are spreading around, have power to rule even whole world, destroy everything that you can touch... but in the end... where are you going... keeping to good is more difficult and demands sacrifice and wish to learn, but... the prise is different and I hope you see it or will see it one day...

The Universe needs light and dark, good and evil to balance itself. Can you imagine the chaos of a Universe, unbalanced?
All Alpha and no Omega?
And yes, in simple terms, the Source must contain both.
Which are we? And how do we really know for sure?
