Yes, it's weird but Humans are weird creatures. All of us. Part of our unique nature is that we live in a world of words, it's what makes us human, it's also what makes us weird.

Jim, words are the most powerful and yet underrated tool in the human race's survival kit. They can be used to build bridges of understanding between people, or they can be used to kill and destroy.

I'm a Christian who holds a Master's Degree in English and has a minor in Library Science. I am adamantly opposed to censorship in any form, be it of books or ideas. That's because I realize how powerful words are and how much we need diversity to avoid becoming a generation of mindless sheeple.

That's why I encourage people to think carefully about what they post here. There are real people at the other end of these keyboards. . .we've got the ability to hurt or heal with our words.

It really depends. I can read a question with a tone like that and roll my eyes at it, but you may get a stronger, and more vocal response from someone who was affected by it on a personal level. So, in some cases, words really can be powerful.

It would be nice if this forum could be approached in a more respectful manner, but it will probably never happen. Especially if people continue to question opposing views with that level of contempt...and fear.

As a Christian my Bible tells me that the power of Life and Death reside in the tongue.
This would naturally refer to the words we use and the conversations we have.
One thing I think we need to realize is that I have every right to believe in God and Jesus Christ.
I have every right, as a Christian Preacher, to answer questions to the best of my ability, and as God directs.
I need to remember, when answering those questions to show the Love of Jesus Christ, not the hatred of religion.
I need to remember that just as I have certain rights, as an individual, others have those same rights.
I may not agree with a persons believes or lack of same, but I must admit that have that right and respect it.

Mr. Mayor, the person to whom you refer in that question claims to be a christian.
Christians believe that god SPOKE all things into existence. That being said, words MUST be that powerful.

For the rest of us, yeah, it's weird. No one is forcing you to click on a question you don't like, nor are they holding a gun to your head and making you read an answer.

I dislike censorship. Even if I disagree with someone to the hilt, I would fight for their right to state their opinion. I do not report violations, even if I find them offensive to me. I'd rather the world (or at least yahoo participants) see them for the idiot they're being than silence them.

That isn't harassment.

Hate mail - that's harassment.

Butting in on questions asked specifically about a different religion's customs, practices etc., to quote bible verses and condemn - that's harassment.

To be fair, butting in on questions asked specifically about a religions' customs, practices, etc., to tell believers that they are all delusional is harassment, too.
