i have 2 parakeets and ever since i got them they have been making a shreeching sound.is that okay for them to do?

yea, if they are budgie then they will make those sounds all the time, its natural, and they are happy.

if its OK with you! then its OK. it just means that they are happy and comfortable in your home!
if you don't like them doing this when my bird gets to noisy i put a blanket over the cage for 2 mins and when they have stopped making noise i take it off

a screeching sound from my experience means pay attention to me. our females were bad for that where as our males usually just sang for attention.
