Tiger= namir /n^mir/
Cat= kita /kita/ ( the "k" is a substitute for a sound that doesn't exist in English)

Tiger : نَمِر = Namer (Masculine)
Female Tiger : نَمِرة = Namerah (Feminine)

Cat : قطّ = Qitt (Masculine)
Female Cat : قطّة = Qittah (Feminine)

There are many region specific terms as well, such as GATU, BISS, SINNAUR .... etc.

القطة le chat
النمر le tigre

French translates much better into Arabic than English does because of syntax and structure. Chat is cat, tigre is tiger.
