Yes that has happened to me. I have never talked to anyone about it, so I don't know why I do this.
My theory is that this is our way of taking care of ourselves. We have felt feelings of despair in bed, so we are giving ourselves a "change of scenery" to see if it helps. It seems to work for me.
Good luck to you.

My husband does this 2 and it drove me 2 distraction! Then we had a series of unfortunate events (no pun intended!) and i now wake up at 2.30 every night and cant go to sleep until i go downstairs get a drink let myself get really cold then go 2 my warm bed! We all have strange coping mechanisms for stress and depression sometimes it is best to really consider the causes then a cure can come from it or at least an understanding from your husbands point of view!

Each will have their own problems when depressed. If your depression keeps changing often, you could check whether you are bipolar. Have you got the diagnosis of the depression from a qualified health professional? And are you taking any medication? If you prefer to share these aspects, may be I can help you better with some alternative health solutions.

Some times when I spend the day in bed-depressed or not, I need a change of scenery and have to sleep elsewhere like you do.
I hope your husband can understand this is a coping mechanism and it has nothing to do with how much you love him.
Good luck

No you are not strange. I assume that you are a fairly young person but I work with older people and it is amazing how many of them who have depression ( treated and untreated) who will not sleep in their beds. It may be worthwhile trying to work out why you cant sleep in bed. Is it from fear of disturbing your partner of the guilt that you might. Is you partner irritated or worried that you may harm yourself? I hope the depression passes soon.

Depression manifests itself in strange ways. The good thing is that you recognise you are depressed, that is the beginning of the cure. Truly depressed people never realise they are depressed.
