So, you are saying the cat is just scrapping by. Leave some toilet paper.
The only thing you can do is put the litter box in a larger box - making it a 2 box system the larger box may need to be 6" bigger all the way around so you have 3" or more of space all the way around the litter box (at least if it continues to scrape it will hopefully do it on the first edge(litterbox) and it will not land on the floor. Make sure you don't put litter in the bigger box otherwise the cat will try to do it there and still do the scraping on the box edge as it leaves.
Secondly, feed the cat more dry cat food than out of the can. Drier droppings rather than the smear.
What can I say, it likes the feeling.

do an experiment.
for 1 week put a lid on your cats litter box.
for 1 week take the lid off your cats litter box.
for 1 week put a sheet or towel or shirt as a lid on your cats litter box.
then whichever week your cat doesn't do number 2 on the rim of the litter box, use do that forever

Line the rim of the box with a trash bag, and then apply what's called "Feliway" spray ONLY to the rim of the box (on the edges of the rim where you've folded the trash bag over). The cat will not want to go #2 on the rim anymore!

if you clean your cat box every morning and night she will not go #2 on the rim and if she still does you have to wash and and sanitize your litter box. and then set your cat into the cat litter box and reaped that several times, good luck

One solution you might want to consider is getting a covered litter box. Your cat has a problem judging where her bottom is for some reason and there is no real way to break her of that.

undesirable kitty & undesirable you! Has he constantly accomplished this? if so i'd attempt the two kitty litters thought. some cats are purely rather paticular! If he has purely began this those days it ought to be something scientific. i became into instructed...If a cat has a urniary tract an infection it hurts them to bypass. they start up associating the soreness with the muddle container. to that end thinkng...stay far off from muddle container to maintain that soreness away. i'm not precisely beneficial yet this could be your kitty's situation. good success to you:)

Get a covered litterbox. My male did this all the time, and that was the only way to stop it.
