Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use

Well it is still a debatable issue. In the mid and late seventees the scientific community was in agreement claiming ''global cooling'', look it up. They thought the world would suffer a small ice age and that people were going to die by the millions. Any way, whatever the scientific community is reading into their 'results', the fact is that we should try as much as possible to reduce our environmental foot print. There are many ways that we can act on an individual level, from small things that won't affect your lifestyle very much, to things that require you to overhaul it completely.
recycle
ride a bike, walk, or take the bus whenever you can
if you can't because you live too far from work or school, move closer (thats one of the big ones)
install energy saver lights in your appartment or house
invest in solar panels (another big one, costs a lot)
unplug appliances you're not using when you leave your appartment, like tv's, computer's, cell phone chargers. They all consume electricity as long as they're plugged in.
Bring your own bags to the grocery store.
If you have any yard at all, plant a garden.
Shop responsibly. When you buy a product, you are supporting a business. You have the power to support responsible businesses. Find out which ones are irresponsible and don't shop there. (www.responsibleshopper.org )
Tell your friends. Don't push it on them because that defeats our purpose and you could come off as too righteous.
There are others, but those are already a great start.
Have a good one.

Global warming/global ice age: the great call to action from the green activists. The earths warming or cooling trends(many have happened historically) are a function of solar cycles and can no more be stopped than the rain. Man made pollutants must obviously have some effect on solar radiation dispersion but that effect on global warming is very small. Conservation of resources is an admirable goal and can be achieved by all with simple steps like reuse when possible, ie. cloth shopping bags, cloth diapers, cloth wipes instead of paper towels, if you must use paper products try to use only plain paper with out dyes, recycled if possible. Energy conservation is just a simple with a little thought as well, link trips in your vehicle so you use it less (even electric ones) use small spot lamps instead of lighting the whole room, wear more clothes and turn the heater down. Individuals cannot stop global warming but we can reduce the strain on our natural resources with a little effort. The list of ways to do this can go on for days. good luck and keep thinking about the bigger picture.

Stop global warming?
1. First, you'll need a very big fire extinguisher (foam will do it) and a heat-resistant extending ladder.
2. Climb up the ladder (it has to be long) so you're just above the sun, then squirt the fire extinguisher onto it until it goes out.
3. Sit back, pat yourself on the back - you've saved the planet!

Find some way to move the Earth farther from the sun.........
We could have been saved from the Ice Age also if the cave men could have found a way to move the Earth closer to the sun..........
That's all there is too it.....Mankind is not causing global warming....the sun is.

I think most every body has shown that the majority of damage is coming from corporations. If you want to do something serious, create groups that strongly boycott corporations that release methane gases into the air (these gases are thousands of times more deadly than carbons). And vote out any politician that won't create real guidelines on emissions release.

Minimise your energy consumption. Minimise the use of fossil fuels for cooking and room heating etc. But these solutions are not easy. For example we use LPG for cooking and I don't see my wife switching to a solar cooker which is the only environmentally friendly alternative.

Emissions from the US are going down, we now need to get the Chinese, Brazilians, Indians, etc., to do their part.
Atmospheric pollution is not the sole responsibility of the US. There are plenty of other countries dumping far worse stuff into our air.
