We know and have heard of the horrible way our military was bashed in the 60’s and on into the 70’s. Because of what Bush may decide there are those in a growing numbers who are stating to bash the military again. I do not know whether going into Iraq is the right thing to do our not. There are things that go on behind the scenes that we are totally and completely unaware of "So if you are going to poke fun at the military look around, make sure I can’t hear you please."

AMEN!
Don't bash the military PING!
Supporting the military is a 365 day duty.
I personally get very upset when I see FReepers bashing the military
and FReepers turning their back on the military because of personality conflicts with other FReepers.
Next time someone wants to moan, groan or abandon the military read this first before you post.

First try a little grammar lesson. How about why ARE there so many people?
Second, who is bashing the military? I hear no one, either conservative or liberal. I believe you are making asinine statements to further dissent in this country. Post something that validates this claim.
Finally, just who is burning the flag? When was the last time you saw an American flag being burned in America? Be honest and answer that question. There isn't a rash or even an occasional instances of flag burning here. But as much as I detest some moron who would burn the flag, it is protected under the 1st Amendment. Free speech doesn't have to be intelligent as your question illustrates.

I'm with kennyj. Just who is doing this bashing? There is plenty of rightful dissent against the invasion and ongoing occupation of Iraq. However, I've yet to here so much as a peep directed against the military itself. I must have missed the flag burnings somehow, haven't seen or heard anything about that either.

The whole point of being free is being able to voice your dissent (and whether I like it or not burning the flag is a form, misguided I believe, of voicing dissent).

I love those that instantly start throwing around the left/right, Republican/Democrat, Liberal/Conservative labels. Labels are the refuge of the ignorant. Look up the definition of liberal and conservative, you'll learn something real quick.

Has anyone burned the flag in the last 35 years? That was popular for a few years during the anti-Vietnam War protests and then seems to go out of vogue. Second I think you are confusing bashing the military with criticizing the current administrations policies. We are a free people and have the right, in fact the duty to comment on what our government does,

It's because they are too much of a coward to do what the men and women of our nation who are in the armed forces are doing. So they feel that burning the flag, holding up signs that say make LOVE no WAR. Seriously how do they think they got their right of freedom of speech.... by a freaking war. War is a part of life whether they like it or not. So if you don't agree with what is going on over there that's all fine and dandy, but my husband is over in Iraq and I won't abide with anyone saying anything about our soldiers. It's the cowards and selfish people who bash the military and the men and women who serve and if they don't like what is going on then you can leave the USA for all I care. People like that don't deserve the freedom and liberties that a war gave them.

As musch as I despise flag buring being a vet myself, I understand it is their own right, misguided as it may be, to burn the flag. There will always be dissenters, there is no way around that, best i can hope for is an unfortunate accident and wind blowing the flag the wrong way back

It seems they are the same people who believe being conceived is a capital crime while a mass murderer should get community service.

I don't understand it either. Someone said "the only rights you have are those you can defend". IMO that weakens their position considerably. But rest assured, they will continue to exercise the "rights" paid for by others, with the very blood of those military men and women they loathe.

I spent 22 years in the military. Have you ever been spit on and called a baby killer?

Because members of the military serve this country to preserve the right for for these individuals to do bash them. It's not right but that is what we stand for....freedom, where else could citizens talk about their leaders and get away with it.

It' the Liberals doing it. No Conservative burns a flag. Most military personnel are Conservatives or Liberals that respect their country more than the average Liberal. Look around. Liberals boo our soldiers, hold mass rallies on worldwide television showing how weak we are, and burn flags. Is that hypocrisy, or what?

They are the cowards looking out behind there window At times the price for freedom is high,
With hopes that WORLD PEACE is soon to be nigh.
So blessed are we to taste of that freedom,
Something others only fathom and reason.
