No, just wishful thinking on her part. First off, could you imagine a big old lion mating with a little domesticated cat, or domesticated cat with a lioness? That picture alone is worth a few laughs. We do not even get into the science aspect of it.

Not impossible but extremely unlikely -- Domestic cat and Bobcat or Lynx maybe but that would need to be arranged and survival of the Domestic cat would be highly unlikely. There were breeders a few years back that bred domestics that had characteristics of wild cats . They sucessfully bred cats that looked like lions, leopards, ocelots, margays, and bobcats and they sold them for big bucks. I haven't heard about this in recent years.

I think a lion would be more interested in eating a domestic house cat rather than having amourous activities with it. And even if it did, it is absolutely impossible.

oh and regarding the remark about mix breeding with wolves...I used to had a wolf/shepard mix as a child and a wolf/shepard/rotty mix a few years ago. good dogs.

You friend is pulling your leg. Imagine a Tom cat approaching a lioness. If she was amused by his presumption she would swat him out of the way. If she was annoyed, she would eat him. Now imagine a female house cat looking for love. Up comes Mr. Lion. He'd kill her.

No, I wish that could be true but they've speciated. I'm still a little surprised that dogs and wolves can be cross-bread though. Timber-Dalmations, here I come! :)
