According to the EPA, there are over 75,000 artificial chemicals which have been created and manufactured over the past 60 years. They have had the resources to test 7% for safety and have found serious problems with every thing they've tested.

You have not had the time to "evolve" defenses against any of these chemicals. They include so-called "Xeno Estrogens" which mimic strong estrogen signals and are being blamed on three-legged frogs all over the US as well as endometriosis in young girls.

So the parania over synthetic chemicals is based on the clear data.

Yes, there are many many naturally occuring compounds which are poisonous too.

Don't I too have the inalienable right to be free from man-made chemical exposure to my environment?
What gives you the right to claim chemical exposure is safe?
Before you go and drink a gallon of petrochemicals I'd find out what is going on with endocrine disrupters. The world has seen an increase in the population of trans-genders, the increase of their percentages is alarming, and it has been linked to pesticide use!

"Too many people are not smart anymore" What kind of answer is that?

Natural chemicals are by nature in equilibrium with the biosphere. Otherwise we wouldn't be here talking about them.

Synthetic chemicals: we just don't know. And we can produce massive amount of the stuff. If we are not careful with their use, dramatic consequences could ensue before we even realise it.

Because we spent a century assuming they were all perfectly safe- like lead based products- look how well that one worked out for us.

Because there are too many treehuggers who've convinced themselves that everything natural is good and everything artificial is bad. Too many people just aren't very smart anymore
