The operation to get rid of a large mole could be quite expensive. My young son had a large mole on his back. Since I had a similar mole that developed into a melanoma we had it removed, but to do so he was put under, IV and all and they did an approach where they not only cut out the mole, but had to cut the skin around the mole to stretch it together to stitch it up. It still left a scar that he has to this date.
If a person indeed has a large mole anywhere on their bodies I'd recommend it be removed to prevent the potential life threatening cancer. Not every large thing on a person's skin is a mole however so a person should consult with a dermatologist prior to surgery.
Also, Surgery to remove "things" for cosmetic purposes is usually not covered by insurance so an individual removing a large "thing" might need to pay thousands of dollars out of their own pocket.

Most Insurance Companies Do Not Pay For The Mole Removal Surgery. This Surgical Procedure May Take Place If It Could Become Cancerous Or Bleeds. The Insurance Companies Just Will Not Cover Any Cosmetic Problem.
I Know Of Very Few People Who Can Afford To Pay For This Type Of Removal For Beauty.

Because moles are sometimes like icebergs. What you don't see underneath is larger than what you see on top. That means that to surgically remove the mole would leave quite a sizable hole in their face. With plastic surgery the way it is currently, tissue could be grafted relatively satisfactorily into the hole, but it wouldn't be perfect. However scar makeup would make it practically invisible.
I can't think of her name, but there used to be a model a long time ago that had a mole by her mouth. Some people thought it looked good or at least that's what they said in public, but I just can't imagine someone wanting to kiss someone's mole and suck on it. ICK!!!
Personally, no matter what the cost, I would have it removed.
