she is bonding with you,,, you are the most important person in her life! cats will get into the same routine you do,,,,,, as to waking you up, i would imagine she thinks that is her job, if husband isnt around ,,,, cats are very smart!

I have three cats and they do sorta the same thing sept it is at night i normally go to bed after my hubby gets home at about 12:30 am and if i do not go to bed the rub on my leg and then run for the steps if i go near the steps the run to the top and meow down to me and look at my bedroom door . in the morning i get up with the kids for school ....on week ends i still get up early cause the cats wake everyone up in the house ..they will go from room to room sticking their wet noses in everyone's ears or biting lightly on toes ......my one cat will sometimes curl up on the arm of my chair like a little evil villain kitty and just lay there and stare at me when i read . i think it is part of that pack mentality that they had back when they were wild i am the alpha mommy in the home and they know that so they want to make sure i am happy and they all want to spend as much time with me as they can ....that is also why my vet says that my female cat keeps bringing me mice that she gets and dead spiders she is trying to give me presents in her mind lol hope that helps i think your cat just really cares about you in its own little cat way

Humans see see, we ignore smell mostly.
Cats / dogs live in a world where smell dominates. That part of their brain is huge.
When your cat appears to stare at you she is actually smelling you.
Oh gosh she is feeling this person smells sooooo good i feel quite high on her smell.
She probably loves your oestrogen smell, when you are alone, (when hubby is there your oestrogen is different and mixed with his testosterone) and likes you to get up and waft the smell around the house.
Cats can smell hormones and other body chemicals ( my cat once saved my life by waking me up when I was going into a coma - I'm insulin dependant diabetic - my pharmacist explained it was the altered smell that did it).
Be complimented - don't put on extra perfume, and just go on being a source of hypnotic, beautyifully smelled joy to your cat.

My cat does the same thing. She jumps up on me in the morning and wakes me up. Maybe she doesn't do it when your husband is there because she is hostile towards him. When she stares at you, she probably just wants attention.

Your cat probably is lonely and when she sees that your alone wants to snuggle.

Don't trust her... she's waiting to ask to borrow some money.
