both batteries are used the same the diffrence is the cd unless rundown completely could get what they call memory effect so when recharged doesn`t accept a full charge where as the mh can be charged any time without harming the battery

The voltage between 1.2v and 1.5v its very small, you can use either both of for a same device.
usually Ni-Mh has a longer life cycle than Ni-Cd. Ni-cd seen to drain out by your device fast campare to Ni-Mh
